Hi! I’m Sindhuja and I am currently a junior studying Neuroscience and Healthcare Management. As a freshman, I came in with a broad goal of research but quickly became overwhelmed with options. After some trial and error, I can now say that research has been one of my most rewarding experiences on campus.

Currently, I work at  the Penn Computational Cognitive Neuroscience Lab using Targeted Memory Reactivation (TMR) to study the effects of interleaved versus blocked memory reactivation during sleep. I also work in the Cristancho Lab studying the impacts of epigenetic dysregulation from acquired prenatal and perinatal brain injuries on both brain development and lifelong disabilities. Outside of these labs, I work on a clinical study in the PSOM Department of Hematology and Oncology leveraging an e-triage instrument to promote and increase patient access to cancer care.

Each of these experiences have been vastly different yet rewarding in their own way. While the process of finding research is daunting, I think that finding a lab that aligns with your goals and interests is well worth it. If you have any questions about getting started with research or life at Penn, please feel free to reach out and I would be happy to help!
