The Fulbright Program, which operates in over 160 countries worldwide, is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.  For the past several years running, the University of Pennsylvania has been a top-ten producer of Fulbright Students among U.S. colleges and universities.  Last year, 22 Fulbright U.S. Student Awards were awarded to Penn students and alumni to conduct independent research, pursue graduate study, or teach English abroad.  Fulbright recipients for grant year 2017-2018 will be announced on a rolling basis this spring.
