The Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship offers academic year and summer fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students with training in specific languages and related areas or international studies, and who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. FLAS aims to develop trained personnel in language and area studies, promote language fluency and develop a pool of international experts from among students in the US. FLAS is funded by U.S. Department of Education and administered by the University of Pennsylvania’s Title VI National Resource Centers and are contingent on federal funding.
