Mind Your Brain Foundation Fellowship
Mind Your Brain Foundation (MYBF) is accepting applications for a $2500 Traumatic Brain Injury Research Fellowship available to Penn undergraduates with career interests related to traumatic brain injury research. To apply for the fellowship please submit your application by March 15, 2024. The application consists of an unofficial copy of your transcript, a mentor request, and a short essay.
Applicants should list three faculty members as potential mentors with whom they would like to work. You may refer to the Center for Brain Injury and Repair Research (CBIR) Team webpage for possible mentors though you are not limited to those faculty members. Applicants with established mentors outside of CBIR should ask their mentor to reach out to Professor Douglas Smith to discuss the compatibility of the intended research project with the goals of the fellowship.
The required essay is limited to approximately 250 words and should include a statement regarding the candidate’s interest in traumatic brain injury research as well as career goals.
Upon award, the recipient will work with the mentor to establish their research project and timeline with the project period to end no later than August 31, 2024. The awardee will be required to present their research at an MYBF Board meeting. MYBF will invite the fellowship recipient to the MYBF Soiree to recognize them for their work. The awardee is encouraged to participate in CBIR events including as a volunteer at the Mind Your Brain Conference held in March.
Established in 2005 by traumatic brain injury survivor Candace Gantt, Mind Your Brain Foundation works to fill the gap in TBI post-acute/rehabilitation care by conducting dynamic, regional, patient-centric conferences that include presentations, interactive discussions, cognitive workshops and resource sharing by a variety of clinical experts, research authorities and TBI survivors.
