Research has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my Penn experience. I came into college knowing I wanted to do research, but to be honest, I didn't exactly know what that looked like or where to start. I had issues with my sleep during high school, so I found a place at the Kayser Lab - which focuses on sleep and brain development by using the model organism Drosophila - at PSOM through a work-study position. I had the amazing opportunity to spend the summer as a full time research assistant working on a project focused on the neural mechanisms of sleep changes over the lifespan. If you have any questions about research at Penn or are feeling overwhelmed, feel free to reach out to talk! I'd love to chat about anything and everything.
