My high school research on the genetics of Social Anxiety Disorder made me realize that I loved actively uncovering new knowledge to answer my own questions. So, I knew I wanted to continue research at Penn, but worried that I didn't know enough. My RPA greatly reassured me, and since last summer, I was involved in the Ruscio lab, where I helped mainly with data entry/preprocessing/analysis, as well as participant recruitment/referrals using platforms like SPSS/RedCap/Qualtrics. I also worked in the Beauchamp lab helping with RAVE, a new software for the preprocessing and analysis of iEEG data, such as by writing technical documentation; additionally, I collected data for a new audiovisual study. My current research interests are mainly related to the intersection of psychology and the digital age, particularly the design and efficacy of digital mental health treatments. For the past year, I've been a research mentee at the Stanford Muslim Mental Health Lab, analyzing how internal factors like spirituality and external factors like family and peers can shape college students' motivations and thus well-being, with a particular focus on the role of the digital age in this interplay. I would love to talk to anyone who is interested in neuroscience or psychology research, but doesn't know where to begin or has worries. I am also happy to talk with students who are curious how their research skills can be applied in non-academic / corporate settings. Reach out any time!
