Description:

How does the brain combine what we hear (auditory speech) with what we see (visual/nonverbal speech) to make sense of what someone is saying? In our lab, we study the neuroscience of human audiovisual speech perception using intracranial EEG -- a method for directly recording the brain activity from humans. We also develop software tools to enhance the speed and reliability of neuroscience discoveries. Whether you're interested in uncovering the mysteries of speech perception or love, making meaningful, beautiful data visualizations (or both!), we have a place for you. Exact role will depend on interest and proclivities; student researchers are expected to spend the majority of their "work" time in the lab (in the Richards building) in order to fully benefit from the environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Student researchers should have a general interest in human neuroscience, statistics, and computer programming (R preferred), with course work in at least one area.
