Mentor Areas
Overall research focuses on cerebral blood flow and metabolism as biomarkers of brain function under normal conditions and in response to brain injury. Specific conditions under investigation include epilepsy, neurodegenerative disease, cerebrovascular disease, and neuropsychiatric disease. This research primarily utilizes magnetic resonance imaging and transcranial optical methods to study regional brain function noninvasively. There is a large component of methodological development and validation, and data analysis and processing using statistical parametric mapping and other computational methods. The research is carried out in collaboration with investigators from Radiology Research, the Cerebrovascular Research Center, Cognitive Neurology, and the Epilepsy Center.
