Mentor Areas
I am a fellowship-trained cardiovascular radiologist whose research interests sit at the intersection of imaging informatics, quality improvement, and health services. Most of the projects I am currently working on or considering involve data wrangling and/or AI. While most AI in radiology is focused on pixel-based tasks (i.e., finding abnormalities in medical images), I am particularly interested in what we can do with other kinds of radiology data (reports, workflow data, etc.).
Description:
We have a number of databases related to radiology (most but not all derived from radiology reports) that can form the basis for interesting research questions. These databases relate to follow-up recommendations and critical findings notifications, among others. They can be used to do different kinds of research, including health services research and artificial intelligence projects. All of this work can be done remotely as well.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong Excel skills - or a willingness to learn them - are a must. Alternatively, if you have other preferred data wrangling skills (R, Python, etc. ), those would be acceptable.
If interested in AI development, Python experience is necessary.
