Mentor Areas

The mentor is a veterinary geneticist with expertise in small animal reproduction and pediatrics and has had students in the lab for many, many years.

Description:

The PennGen genetic disease database allows the user to find canine and feline DNA tests that are offered throughout the world. Not only can the laboratory be found but also detailed descriptions of each of these diseases.

The database needs to be updated to include new tests that are available and new laboratories that offer testing; old defunct laboratories need to deleted; the disease descriptions uploaded; and the front page renewed. This work can be done remotely or in the lab at PennVet, where the student can interact with others in the lab to learn about developing treatments for some of the genetic diseases and how to work up a newly discovered genetic disease.
