Description:

International organizations (IOs) were built to ensure global cooperation and to provide certainty to citizens, governments, and private actors. There are nearly 500 IOs in the world, and they vary widely in terms of their scope, design, and legal standing, among other things. What explains how different IOs withstand crises and respond to challenges?

Research assistants will work on gathering and quantifying a variety of information about the legal, institutional, and locational attributes of a variety of IOs throughout the world, including multilateral (UN, WTO, WHO, among others) as well as regional (ASEAN, the EU, Mercosur, the Arab League, among others) organizations. This project is a good fit for those with interests in globalization, international law, global governance, and regional politics.
