Pamela Weiss, MD MSCE is a pediatric rheumatologist with advanced training in clinical epidemiology and a focus on patient-oriented research in children with rheumatic diseases including juvenile arthritis, spondyloarthritis, and vasculitis. She has expertise in comparative effectiveness research, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical trials, and in leading large multicenter collaborations. Her immediate and long-term career objectives are to: 1) conduct high quality clinical and translational studies to advance the care of children with juvenile arthritis, 2) provide comprehensive care to children with arthritis in an environment that fosters collaboration, discovery and translation of findings back to the clinic, and 3) establish an effective academic training environment for physicians developing careers in clinical research focused on rheumatic disease.
Description:
My research focuses on early diagnosis, accurate phenotyping and targeted treatment of children with juvenile arthritis and spondyloarthritis. My mentees have conducted patient-oriented research involving population- and CHOP-based cohorts to assess clinical course, health care utilization, health disparities, outcomes and comparative effectiveness of various rheumatic diseases.
