Professor David J. Reibstein's current research is on the brand of a nation. He investigates how countries benefit economically through tourism, foreign direct investment, and foreign trade because of the nation’s brand. Professor Reibstein co-authored a book called, “Best Countries,” that provides details on what makes a best country. This book was a product of the Best Countries Report first introduced in 2016 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and a second report, was released, on March 7, 2017 at a Press Conference in Washington, D.C.
Description:
This work is based on a global survey of people's perceptions of 80 countries on 65 attributes forming the ""brand"" of a country. The analysis focuses on how these perceptions are related to economic outcomes, such as, tourism, foreign trade, and foreign direct investment. Many researchable questions arise--what drives perceptions of a country? Which dimensions are most important to drive which economic outcomes? What is the impact on companies within a nation? Etc.
