Mentor Areas

My research/scholarship aims to find means of religious expression that reach what is currently labeled ""spiritual."" I put that in scare quotes because it is often used as an excuse for avoiding the hard questions that any intelligent person now faces when confronting his or her religious history, current mindset and attitudes, and outlook for the future. How do you answer this question: what is one thing that everyone has but that no one earned or deserved?

Description:

I enjoy working with third and fourth year students in their research classes, particularly Psychology 399. I am always happy to speak with students about their research thoughts and possible projects, across this rather wide range of interests.

I like to work collaboratively with students, starting with the nub of an idea and building it as we go, eg. What is a religious path? How do we use religious metaphors? How does the recognition of its legality temper moral judgments of behavior otherwise considered distasteful? (think of this in re bankruptcy) How diverse are people in their puzzle solving strategies--using sudoku as an excellent testbed here?
