Mentor Areas

In our lab we study how language use varies according to social background and social context, as well as how the social dimensions of language use feed into long-term processes of language change. We are interested in how people produce and perceive different aspects of word formation and pronunciation.

Description:

I hire undergraduate RAs to assist with laboratory experiments as well as analysis of existing speech data. Interested students should contact me to discuss possibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Students should generally have completed at least one or two courses in linguistics. Any kind of programming experience is generally a plus but is not required.
