Catherine Tang
Hi! I'm Catherine Tang, and I'm a sophomore in the College studying Health and Societies with a concentration in Health Care Markets & Finance and a minor in Data Science. My research interests include HIV/AIDS, substance use, and health planning and insurance policy. Currently, I am a research assistant in the Sanders Lab at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where I am working on a collaborative care model to address substance use and HIV among Black and Latino youth in Philadelphia and Baltimore. As a recipient of a CURF research grant, I am also working with the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center to study opioid use disorders among veterans at risk for HIV. Beyond research, I am the Executive Blog Manager of the Penn Undergraduate Law Journal, an EPA Consultant for Wharton Undergraduates in Public Policy, and the Events Chair of UNAIDS at Penn.
As someone who has never participated in research before coming to Penn, I understand that getting involved on such a big campus might seem overwhelming or daunting. Therefore, I want to help alleviate any worries and stress, whether it is regarding looking for health-related opportunities, using work-study funds for research, or applying for grants. Feel free to reach out anytime!
