As students at Penn, we are so privileged to have many research opportunities, but if you're new to research like I was, I completely understand that it can be an intimidating world to step into. Where I come from, research as a high schooler was very much inaccessible, so even though I was keen to get involved once I got here, I had no idea where to start and felt initially extremely lost. However, once I got involved, I really started to enjoy it and found that the research community at Penn is extremely supportive.

I started my research at the Wei Lab of Penn Medicine, looking at how anesthetics can be repurposed to treat Alzheimer's Disease, Major Depressive Disorder, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Currently, my main research is in sleep and memory in the Penn Computational Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, where I look at the effects of targeted memory reactivation on real-life memories. I'm also involved with the Center for Autism Research at CHOP.

Research at Penn has been such an integral part of my undergraduate experience, so I'd love to help anybody who needs guidance in taking that first entry step into research. Whether you're new to research or not, don't hesitate to reach out!
