Siming He
My research interests lie in the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and statistics. My long-term goal is to create autonomous robots that can actively learn from the environment and make decisions intelligently. I envision a future where such robots can act safely and perform various tasks in different environments without human supervision. I did my research in Dr. Pratik Chaudhari’s Laboratory for Robotic Learning through PURM2021 and SPUR2022. I focus on enabling drones to autonomously explore and build a detailed geometric and semantic map of their surrounding environments. I also conducted interdisciplinary research with Zihao Li in Fang-Yen Laboratory under the Bioengineering department. I contributed to an autonomous worm-picking robot that aims at freeing researchers from spending time on repetitive experiments. I’d love to help other students involved in research at Penn. I enjoy talking about and listening to any research topics involving computer science, statistics, and robotics. I can also answer any questions about finding research opportunities, choosing courses, and doing research in general. Please feel free to reach out to me if you want to chat!
