My relationship with research had a rocky start- it was something I knew I needed to do for medical school, and initially, that was the only reason I began it. It was never something I enjoyed doing, but with a little trial and error, I've grown to love it. As a member of the Song Lab, I've worked on multiple projects, encompassing my interests in neural regeneration, sleep medicine, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Now, research is something I see myself doing in the future, and my academic journey wouldn't be the same without it.

For my research specifically, my main project revolves around patients with neurodevelopmental disorder causing mutations in the spliceosome complex, the plan being to trace the pathogenicity of these variants through animal models (Drosophila), behavioral assays, and imaging.

As an RPA, I'm excited to help others start their research adventures and hopefully find their own loves for research just like I have. If you have any questions on projects, how to get started, or anything else, please email me- I'd love to get to know you!
