Research of Hearing Loss in Patients with Limited English Proficiency
Hearing loss is a widespread disorder that affects millions of people from all different language and ethnic backgrounds. Most hearing loss treatment in the United States is designed for and catered to English language speakers, even though a sizable portion of the U.S. population is not fluent in English based on census data. This work is focused on improving our understanding and treatment for hearing loss in this important patient population.

Vestibular Disorders Research
The vestibular system is a fundamental component of how we experience the world around us, whether that is simply walking down the street or experiencing the thrill of a roller coaster. When the vestibular system is damaged, lives and livelihoods can be greatly impacted. The University of Pennsylvania Department of Otolaryngology maintains a vestibular database of thousands of patients to better understand how vestibular diseases work and how our bodies respond to treatment.
