Internships at the Kelly Writers House are designed for Penn undergraduates wishing to gain practical experience working within a busy, nonprofit literary arts center. In addition to being part of the team that performs daily operational tasks around the house, the 2024 intern’s primary responsibilities will be focused on KWH’s work with high school students. The intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist with the Summer Workshop for Young Writers, a ten-day residential program for high school students, with supplemental duties relating to our student recruitment initiatives. Please note that interns for our Summer Workshop will be required to work several nights and weekends during the Summer Workshop in mid-July. The internship will be in-person. In your application, please describe your interest in working at the Kelly Writers House, and specify why the Summer Workshop and our recruitment work are well-suited to you and why you are well-suited for this work. Feel free to note any relevant experience you may have — including coursework — though experience is not a requirement. We especially want to know what you hope to learn this summer by interning at the KWH and how a KWH internship might relate to your academic goals, your creative interests, or your career plans.
