General Information
The Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Race, and Immigration (CSERI) supports the engagement of undergraduates in faculty-directed research relating to race, ethnicity, or immigration in the United States and other countries. Faculty may receive up to $2,000 per semester to hire an undergraduate Research Assistant (RA) and may apply for funding for up to two students. Faculty may apply for support for a single semester or for the entire academic year. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline.

Eligibility Guidelines
Standing faculty members in any discipline from all of Penn’s twelve schools are encouraged to apply. Funds can be used to support a full-time Penn undergraduate student enrolled in any school. CSERI research support may be combined with funding from other programs.
All students supported by this grant must be prepared to present their research at a poster exposition hosted by CSERI.
Application Details
RA applications should include a short (less than one page) summary of the research project that includes a description of the undergraduate RA’s research duties. Please include budget information such as the anticipated number of hours to be worked weekly, hourly rate, and period of support. Funding for assistantships will be directed to the account of the supervising professor.
While faculty should submit only one application, they can request support for multiple students by clarifying the distinct roles to be performed.
