Mentor Areas

Classical Chinese history, philosophy, and linguistics.

Description:

This is the largest bibliography of its kind (comprising more than 15,000 titles), but keeping it up to date (and making sure it is correct) requires constant attention.  The job would require a good amount of bibliographical work, both online and occasionally in the library.  Hence it could appeal to students interested in informatics and library science as well as Chinese studies.  A former student who worked on the bibliography turned his experience into a research project on the changing themes and orientations of Western scholarship on ancient China.  What aspects of Chinese civilization were people interested in, when, and why?

Preferred Qualifications

No qualifications necessary--other than genuine interest!

Knowledge of Russian would be especially desirable.  Russian-language scholarship is a major area of weakness in the current version of the bibliography.
