Description:
KIds NeuroDevelopment (KIND) Lab
Cognitive and emotion processes early in a child’s life are the building blocks of their risk and resilience pathways throughout their lifespan. Therefore, it is important to understand how certain cognitive and emotional processes develop and why they become dysfunctional in some children.
The overarching aim of the KIND lab is to:
Better characterize and identify abnormal cognitive and emotional processes in early childhood.
Understand how temperament, social determinants of health, and intergenerational influences shape the development of these abnormal cognitive and emotional processes.
To answer these research questions, we use a mix of clinical, cognitive, behavioral, and neural (EEG) measures. We hope findings from the KIND lab will help improve the detection, prevention, and treatment of mental health disorders in children.
The KIND lab is committed to promoting equity and diversity in our research; we want to amplify voices of traditionally underrepresented students and community members in research.
