Mentor Areas

I am a general internal medicine physician and health services researcher with an extensive background in engineering and technology development. For nearly 20 years, my research has focused on the diffusion of medical technology, with a focus on clinical outcomes, costs, and social consequences of new health care technologies in cardiovascular medicine and surgery.

Description:

I direct Penn's Cardiovascular Outcomes, Quality, and Evaluative Research (CAVOQER) Center at the Perelman School of Medicine. Our multi-disciplinary team of faculty and post-doctoral trainees is engaged in a variety of projects investigating the quality, outcomes, economics, and equity of cardiovascular health care, including the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, emergency medicine, and primary care. Projects will vary. Interested students should contact us to discuss possibilities.

Coursework in Health Care Management and Policy (HCMG) is strongly preferred.  Technical skills in data management and analysis (e.g., SQL, Stata, SAS, R, Python) a strong plus.
