Mentor Areas
I study outcomes in patients born with tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect that requires surgical repair in the first 6 months of life.
Description:
My studies are prospective and retrospective in nature. I use imaging with echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance to characterize the structure and function of the right ventricle, which is the most affected chamber in this defect. In addition, I use blood biomarkers to further characterize these patients. I also study their long-term sequela after heart surgery. I also study the right ventricle in other disease states, including systemic diseases and pulmonary hypertension.
