Mentor Areas

My new research focuses on matters related to health policy. My current goals are to define practice variability (e.g. frequency of visits and testing) in the ambulatory setting for patients with congenital heart disease after surgery, identify patient and physician factors that are associated with practice variability, assess the relationship of testing to clinical outcomes and then derive evidence-based practice guidelines. By so doing, I hope to minimize low value testing, improve quality of care and minimize expense. This work entails abstraction of data from the electronic health record and data confirmation.
