Dr. Leonard is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics. He is Faculty in the PhD-granting Graduate Group in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Faculty in and Executive Committee Member of the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology Research and Training, Faculty in the Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics, Core Faculty in the Center for Therapeutic Effectiveness Research, Senior Fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and Fellow of the Institute on Aging―all at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Special Government Employee of the US Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Leonard is a pharmacoepidemiologist with extensive expertise in post-market drug surveillance and causal inference methods. He is known for his work in the comparative safety of medical products among economically disadvantaged and older adult populations. His scientific contributions aim to close knowledge gaps in three major areas of post-market drug safety: prescription drug-induced sudden cardiac arrest; population health effects of drug interactions; and methods development in pharmacoepidemiology.
Description:
