Psychosocial functioning in children with chronic medical conditions, especially GI conditions;

Pediatric treatment adherence and self-management;

Description:

My research focuses on the psychosocial functioning of children and teens with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I am particularly interested in parental stress, treatment adherence, and child psychosocial outcomes for children with very early-onset IBD. I am also actively involved in depression and anxiety screening integrated within standard GI clinical care. 

While I am primarily a clinician, I have access to data related to: (1) a psychosocial study assessing parental stress, treatment adherence, and psychosocial functioning in children with VEO-IBD 6 years and younger; this study also includes qualitative data capturing language families use to describe aspects of IBD and its treatment to young children; (2) anxiety and depression screening measures incorporated in pediatric IBD clinical care; (3) GI Psychology chart review data for a range of presenting GI conditions, ages, and GI Psychology interventions. 

Preferred Qualifications

Previous research experience desired.

Completion of at least 2 statistics courses.

Major in Psychology or a Pre-med-related major.
