Mentor Areas

My research mainly involves the lung cancer screening, pulmonary nodule characterization and other lung disease. In 2003, I received the full scholarship from the Groningen University and joined the largest lung cancer screening trial in the world - Dutch-Belgian Lung Cancer Screening trial (NELSON). I was one of the key readers in the screening center (Groningen). After PhD promotion in 2007, I joined the earliest lung cancer screening study in the world - ELCAP (Internal Early Lung Cancer Action Program), and became one of the key readers in the program. In the meanwhile, I have trained radiologists from around the world who participate in the screening program to understand all aspects of screening including nodule identification and management. Since 2017, I started cardiothoracic imaging fellowship training. During the training, I was the principal investigator of "Local recurrence of primary and metastatic lung cancer after sub-lobar resection: the predictive value of pre- and post-operation CT and pathology correlation". I collaborated in Dr. de la Hoz’s project (U01 OH010401) from its beginning in the fall of 2012 in the classification of chest CT study findings using the International Classification of CT for Occupational and Environmental Respiratory Diseases (ICOERD), and have been co-author in publications related to its use in the WTC Chest Imaging cohort. Now I am an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.
