Housing, Program Evaluation, Program Implementation
Description:
The Housing Initiative at Penn seeks a qualitative research assistant for the fall semester (with the possibility of extension) to support an ongoing evaluation of Rebuilding Together Philadelphia (RTP)'s home repair program in West Philadelphia. RTP’s model is distinct from other home repair programs in Philadelphia for its homeowner-centered approach and focused efforts on homes in specific neighborhoods at the block level. Our evaluation seeks to capture the impact of RTP's approach, in part through longitudinal interviews with households receiving repairs through the program. Work will include a combination of in-person interviews with homeowners and interview coding. This is an excellent opportunity for a student with an interest in housing, economic inequality, and the built environment.
We are looking for a student who has regular availability between 9 am and 5 pm on Fridays (and/or Wednesdays), although some work can be completed remotely. Work will include a combination of in-person interviews with homeowners who are on the waiting list for assistance or have received assistance, as well as interview coding. Note that in-person interviews will take place in homeowners' homes in West Philadelphia, and the student will always be conducting interviews with another HIP team member.
Please send a resume and cover letter to housinginitiative@design.upenn.edu. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, with priority given to those received by Monday, September 8th.
