Intersectional Health Promotion and Prevention of Sexual and Gender Diverse Youth

Dr. Sanders work focuses on building intersectional health promotion and prevention interventions for sexual and gender diverse youth, with a particular focus on expanding access to gender affirming care and optimizing adolescent and young adult sexual health, HIV/AIDS, and substance treatment and prevention interventions.

Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Clinical Research

We have multiple clinical research studies underway focused on cystic fibrosis (CF) and respiratory outcomes of prematurity. Students will have an opportunity to participate as part of the clinical research team. We employed advanced pulmonary function testing such as electrical impedance tomography and forced oscillation.

Basic Epilepsy Research: Exploring the Interface Between Neuroscience and Engineering

Join us to study how epilepsy develops using in vivo and in vitro models, along with engineering approaches.

Inhibition of bacterial CRISPR-Cas systems by anti-CRISPR proteins

We explore the molecular mechanisms that bacterial viruses (phage) use to disarm or evade bacterial CRISPR-Cas systems

Water quality in the Pennsylvania streams and rivers

We're interested in investigating the flow and fluxes of nutrients and metals in Philadelphia waterways to see impacts of land use and human activity on aquatic ecosystems. We use advanced analytical instrumentation and methodologies to measure elements and compounds of environmental interest, and have the capacity for incubation experiments to mimic environmental conditions.

Synthesis of Molecular Probes for Bioimaging Applications

labs interests: synthetic chemistry, Bioimaging probe development

Philadelphia Zoo Primate Research Assistant(s)

Dr. Caroline Jones is accepting applications for undergraduate research assistants to collect primate behavioral data at the Philadelphia Zoo from January to May 2025. Students will learn to use ZooMonitor software to record behaviors of white-handed gibbons (Hylobates lar).

Natural and Nature-Inspired Materials

Come and join us to explore the materials science secrets behind tough and strong seashells, lightweight sponges, iridescent exoskeletons, image-forming mineral eyes, and more!

Interfacial Engineering and Fluid Mechanics for Water and Sustainability

Conduct experimental research on nanoengineered materials for applications in sustainability including water remediation, carbon capture, and design of sustainable materials.
