Hi! My Name is Asim Handy and I am a sophomore studying Bioengineering, with minors in statistics and chemistry. When I arrived at Penn, I had only a little computational research experience and knew I wanted to get involved in wet lab research, but had no idea where to start. I’ve found it helpful to narrow down your interests to certain topics that interest you, but always remember that the beauty of research is interdisciplinary, and often capitalizes on multiple skill sets.

My primary research in the Cullen Lab involves utilizing neural engineering strategies to develop technologies to enhance neural repair and regeneration. I am also involved with various other student organizations such as the Netter Center, UA, WUHC, and Venture Lab, so don’t hesitate to reach out for anything whether it's narrowing down your interests, cold emailing research faculty, or just wanting to chat.
