Divyash Shah
Hi all! My name is Divyash and I am a third-year undergraduate studying Biology and Neuroscience. My research interest is specifically in investigating the connection between ER stress and alternative splicing in key brain cells. I’ve been recently looking at how that may contribute to various neurological pathological changes. My journey in research started in high school where I joined a lab at my high school and studied the role of cell cycle arrest on neurodegenerative disorders. I continued this interest in studying nervous systems cells at Penn. I started my first lab during my first year and switched to my current lab, the Dr. Jordan-Sciutto Lab, before my second year.
While research has become a large passion of mine at Penn, you can also find me cooking every meal, watching soccer or football, and just hanging out. Research often tends to be a large part of the larger Penn community, but it can often be difficult to break into it. My research experience at Penn and other locations would not be possible without the mentors that advised me and helped me make the right steps and avoid bad decisions during my journey. If you have any questions about research, pre-med, my majors, or anything else, please reach out! I am always here to help and share my experience to help you make the most out of yours.
