Glynn Boltman
My name is Glynn, I study Comparative Politics in the department of Political Science, with minors in Survey Research and Data Analytics and Latin American and Latinx Studies. I have been researching since my freshman year, and focus on elections, immigration, and political divisions. Research has been a huge part of my time at Penn, but being able to navigate different opportunities and skills was very overwhelming at first. Over the past few years, I've had the chance to work on projects using different approaches—from conducting interviews with politicians in the UK and Ireland for my CURF project on Brexit, to learning statistical analysis in R for election research, to doing community-based research with immigrant families in Norristown. Currently, I'm working with the Penn Program on Opinion Research and Election Studies on electoral data analysis, and I've been involved in projects ranging from refugee policy coding to computational text analysis using machine learning models. I've learned that political science research can involve everything from fieldwork and interviews to statistical modeling, and I'm happy to talk about how to get started!
