My research journey started my senior year of high school when I conducted a literature based study on conjoined rise of the history of capitalism and democracy. This study introduced me to many Marxist concepts like cultural hegemony, which I continued to explore in an independent study and how it is applied to understand racial issues. This analysis formed my history archival research on the welfare queen stereotype and welfare rights organizing in the twentieth century.
