Hello! My name is Madeleine and I'm a second year undergraduate at Penn studying Neuroscience with minors in Healthcare Management and Spanish! I came to Penn with prior experience in wet lab research as a Research and Development intern studying monoclonal RSV antibodies. Although I greatly enjoyed working in a traditional lab setting, I was eager to pursue other research opportunities that reflected my interdisciplinary interests across neuroscience, public health, and patient-facing initiatives. At the Kids NeuroDevelopment (or KiND) Lab, a collaboration between CHOP and the Neuropsychiatry department at HUP, I contribute to a study on the intergenerational transmission of threat sensitivity, which examines how caregiver experiences and biology may shape child emotional development. This work allows me to engage in a uniquely interdisciplinary research environment that bridges neuroscience, genetics, psychology, and clinical care. This experience has shown me how extensive and varied research can be, even outside of the traditional wet lab setting. Outside of research, I enjoy running, swimming, and engaging in community service. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, research related or not!
