Recent Penn graduate selected for English Teaching Flagship Award

The English Teaching Flagship Award is given to individuals willing and qualified to be English teachers in Taiwan. Recipients are selected by the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (FSE) in cooperation with the MOE (Ministry of Education) in Taiwan.

Penn students and alumni awarded Fulbright 2025-26 U.S. Student Program grants

Seventeen have been offered Fulbright awards for the 2025-26 academic year to conduct research, pursue graduate degrees, or teach English overseas.

My Research on Rainwater Harvesting

Krishna Chandrasekhara ('25), a Health and Societies major, conducted research on the public health benefits of rainwater harvesting. Krishna was mentored by Dr. John Kanbayashi (Department of History and Sociology of Science) and this project was supported by the Paul and Kathleen Barthmaier Award.

Penn fourth-year and three recent alumni named 2025 Knight-Hennessy Scholars

The scholarship provides financial support for up to three years to pursue a graduate degree and global leadership training at Stanford University.

Art and Activism

Taryn Flaherty ('25), a History and Sociology double major, was an intern at Spiral Q last summer. The mission of Spiral Q is to use the power of art to connect people, actions, values, neighborhoods, organizations, and movements to create change. This internship was supported by the Summer Humanities Internship Program.

Six Penn students awarded 2025 Critical Language Scholarships

CLS Scholars enrolled at colleges and universities across the United States spend approximately eight weeks studying one of a dozen languages either overseas or virtually.

Eric Tao in the College of Arts and Sciences and alum Suraj Chandran are among 19 in the country chosen this year for the doctoral fellowship in applied science, engineering, and mathematics

Clinical Research on Hearing Loss

Yoojin Jo ('27), a Neuroscience major, conducted research with Dr. Tiffany Hwa (Department of Otorhinolaryngology) on clinical methods to screen for hearing loss. This research was supported by the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program.

Penn 2025 graduate awarded a Gates Cambridge Scholarship

Class of 2025 graduate student Rameen Iftikhar is one of 95 new Gates Cambridge Scholars.

Cervical Cancer Research in Botswana

Navjeet Kaur ('27) is a Nursing student who traveled to Botswana to research the effects and prevention of cervical cancer with Dr. Surbhi Grover (Department of Radiation Oncology). This research was done through the Center for Global Oncology and was supported by the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program.

Exploring My Autoimmune Research Interests

Ben Nachod ('26), a Bioengineering major, conducted research with Dr. Michael Mitchell (Department of Bioengineering) on the use of lipid nanoparticles to treat autoimmune diseases. This research was supported by the Vagelos Undergraduate Research Grant.

On the Ground in Poland: Lessons from My Summer Research

Viktoriya Jones ('25), an International Studies and Marketing double major, traveled to Poland to conduct research on the Ukrainian refugee crisis with mentorship from Dr. Rudra Sil (Department of Political Science). This research was supported by the Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award.
