Gelfman International Summer Fund

The Gelfman International Summer Fund has been established by Robert W. Gelfman (Wharton ’53) to create opportunities for personally enriching international research and/or service for students in the summer between their junior and senior year. The Fund is expected to cover two or three students each summer. Penn juniors from any of Penn’s undergraduate schools and in any discipline are eligible.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Fulbright Grants fund 8-12 months of international experience in over 140 countries. The program is open to US citizens from all academic disciplines.

The Voyager Scholarship: Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service

A two-year leadership development program that supports students who have a passion for helping others.

Paul and Kathleen Barthmaier Award

Deadline: 03/16/2026

Financial support to assist with travel expenses related to intellectually enriching undergraduate research or fellowship experiences.

Hassenfeld Foundation Social Impact Grant

Deadline: 03/17/2026 (Tentative)

The Hassenfeld Foundation Social Impact Grant has been established to provide support to students who are undertaking innovative social impact projects with potential for real-world outcomes. Grants will be awarded up to $5,000 depending on the needs of the project.

Jewish Studies Administered Research Awards

Deadline: 11/25/2026 (Tentative)

Each fall and spring the Jewish Studies Program offers Goldfein Research Awards, Brenner Special Opportunity Awards, and Schwartz Awards to both undergraduate and graduate Penn students to cover research projects and study programs in or related to Jewish studies.

Leland International Hunger Fellows (Tentative Deadline)

Leland Fellows develop new skills while actively working to alleviate hunger and poverty in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.  During the first year, fellows work directly to build food security in the field.  In the second year, fellows apply their field experience to the design of sound development policy at the organizational, national, and international level.

Penn Global Research & Internship Program (GRIP)

The Global Research & Internship Program (GRIP) offers outstanding undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to intern or conduct research with a variety of organizations and companies abroad for 8 to 12 weeks over the summer.

Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award

The Association of Alumnae of the University of Pennsylvania has established the Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award in the School of Arts and Sciences to recognize and support female undergraduates for academic achievement and demonstrated service to country, community, and family during the summer after their sophomore or junior year in the College.

Terry B. Heled Travel & Research Grant

The winner of the Terry B. Heled Travel & Research Grant will receive $2,000 toward the costs of travel for research that will lead to a significant writing project. The travel and research will be conducted during the summer (between mid-May and the end of August). Candidates who propose a trip of longer rather than shorter duration will be given priority, and candidates who propose to travel beyond North America will also get priority, but any travel plan—to any place, of any length—will receive serious consideration based on the quality of the project.
