Below is a list of Fellowships that do not explicitly require US citizenship. Some may be open to applicants from any country, others are open to international students from selected countries, and some require applicants to be either US Permanent Residents or be in the process of seeking to remain in the US. See the eligibility requirements of each program. Fellowships staff are happy to assist you in applying to any of these opportunities.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship

Deadline: 10/16/2025 (Tentative)

Funds a full-time PhD or master's degree in nearly any academic field at the University of Cambridge for individuals with a sustained commitment to producing positive change and using the knowledge gained through their graduate degree to work toward the greater good

Soros Fellowship for New Americans for immigrants and children of immigrants

Deadline: 10/31/2025 (Tentative)

Provides New Americans (immigrants or the children of immigrants) pursuing a full-time graduate degree in any field in the United States up to $90,000

Princeton in Latin America Fellowship (tentative)

Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) partners with NGOs and multilateral organizations and places highly qualified recent college graduates in one-year service fellowships with nonprofit, public service, humanitarian, and government organizations with a social mission in Latin American and Caribbean.  PiLA enhances the mission of its partners by building their capacity to impact constructively the communities they serve, addressing the social, economic, and political barriers to egalitarian community development.

Princeton in Asia Fellowship

Princeton in Asia (PiA) fosters mutual appreciation and cross-cultural understanding between the United States and Asia through immersive work fellowships in host organizations and communities

Hertz Fellowship

Deadline: 11/01/2025 (Tentative)

Funds full-time PhD study for young scientists on the leading edge of scientific discoveries fueling US global leadership in science and technology

American Scandinavian Society Fellowship

Deadline: 11/01/2025 (Tentative)

The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) offers one-year fellowships (up to $23,000) and 1-3 month grants (up to $5,000) to individuals who have completed a Bachelor's degree to pursue research, study, or creative arts projects in one or more Scandinavian country.

Chevening Scholarship (Deadlines Vary)

Funds mid-career professionals from abroad to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
