Nora Youn ('25), a Visual Studies major, researched how the length of time viewing museum installations influences the aesthetic impacts of the work. Nora was mentored by Dr. Anjan Chatterjee (Department of Neurology), and this research was supported by the College Alumni Society Undergraduate Research Grant.
Sights of Memory in My Grandmother’s Village
Madeline "Mima" Kohn ('26), an Urban Studies major, travelled to Romania to research her own family history, specifically the experiences of her grandmother during World War II. Madeline was mentored by Dr. Taije Silverman (Department of English) and this research was supported by the Paul and Kathleen Barthmaier Award.
Penn fourth-year Jaskeerat Gujral named 2025-2026 ThinkSwiss Research Scholar
The program aims to promote research opportunities in Switzerland for American and Canadian students and to foster exchange between Swiss, U.S., and Canadian universities and research institutions.

The 13-month fellowship provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia.

Gaining Clinical and Research Experience
Ellie Mayers ('26), a Nursing major, conducted research on the benefits and disadvantages of activity restriction during pregnancy with the mentorship of Dr. Beth Pineles (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology). This research was supported by the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program.
Investigating the Biological Foundations of Sleep
Hayle Kim (’25) researched the genetic regulation of early-life sleep under the mentorship of Dr. Jeffrey Rosa and Dr. Matthew Kayser in the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine. Hayle conducted this research with the support of the University Scholars program and recently presented her work at the Advances in Sleep and Circadian Sciences Conference in Clearwater, FL. She was awarded the Goldwater Scholarship in 2024.

Monica Madya ('25), a Biology major, conducted research on biomarkers of rare metabolic diseases with mentorship from Dr. Rebecca Ganetzky (Department of Pediatrics) and through the support of the Pincus-Magaziner Family Undergraduate Research Fund.
